You Deserve a Pat on the Back
When was the last time you appreciated yourself for doing a fantastic job? Most of us are awful at knowing when we have succeeded in doing a good job. We are hard on ourselves, while others around us can easily recognize your achievements. Give yourself some well-needed attention, even if it is with a simple pat on the back. This is enough to encourage you to keep on striving for more.
At one point or the other, you must have been in a position that you had worked very hard on a particular task and were feeling really impressed with the quality of work that you did. However, we start to believe that the only sure way we did a good job is after getting feedback from others. Should this be so? Maybe, however, we should not rely too much on others to tell us if we’ve done a great job or not.
Celebrate Your Positive Influence
Who else is more important in your life and the life of your family. You may be a parent, trusted advisor, or role model in the community. In fact, you are a lifeline to each and every person in your life, believe it or not. Even though you are yet to realize this, any form of help you render to others will help them face challenges in their life with assurance, dignity, confidence, and success. For those reasons alone, you deserve a pat on the back.
Overlook your shortcomings
Dwelling on what is wrong will do you no good. There is no guarantee that all your best efforts, as well as, the effort of those around you, will achieve your preferred results. Looking at these circumstances as the setback will not be helpful. A pat on the back offers you encouragement that the setback should be setting you up for a comeback or better result.
Even when you are failing to progress at the level you always wished for; you can always make an adjustment, and seek for other alternatives. You don’t have all the answers, or do you? When you give yourself a pat on the back, you will be inspired to look for solutions and work towards achieving them. This is reassurance that brings forth peace of mind and when the mind is at peace answers come forth.
Notice the small victories, they lead to large victories
After achieving a goal, learning a new task, or any small segments of your goal or task, this is not a time to allow an issue or setback to overshadow your accomplishments. Small victories are enough reasons to celebrate the dedication and hard work you have put in thus far to reach where you are.
Always remember, regardless of any setbacks, triumphing in any small battles are huge steps in the right path. Enjoy your small victories from time to time, and give yourself a pat on the back. This will keep you focused and lessen the stress of your challenges.
Prevent self-doubt
Self-doubt remains an obstruction to self-confidence. The best thing you can do for yourself after all your hard work is to make sure that from time to time, you are reminding yourself that you are doing a great job. You can achieve this with a quick pat on the back.
When you give yourself a pat on the back, you will prevent any room for self-doubt. You will be inspired to strive further to achieve more of your goals, tasks or challenges in the nearer future. Through this, you will be erasing harmful dialog which is discouraging your ability to feel worthy of your current situation. This help to build your self-esteem and inner strength.
Studies have revealed that giving yourself a pat on the back also helps to increase the self-belief you have within yourself. As we all know, nothing is better for you than self-belief or self-esteem. If you choose not giving yourself a pat on the back, you may feel exhausted, stressed out, resentful, and indifferent.
Remember to give yourself a pat on the back often. Turn it into a habit, it’ll give you a wonderful sense of accomplishment and make you feel special. It’ll show you how to appreciate all your hard work and achievements, so you will be encouraged to keep soaring even higher.
