A pajama day, better known as a PJ Day is a day that is all for yourself. It is there to give you all the freedom that you not only desire, but also deserve. Your exhausted medulla oblongata finally gets a relief from all the worries. In addition, you also get to recharge your body from yet another busy routine. In other words, your Pajama day is the solution to, not all, but many of your stressors in your life.
If I can, I love staying in pajamas all day and watching movies and eating good food. ~Becky GClick to tweet
Take the Day Off
All you need to do is, take a day off, relax and enjoy being comfortable all day. Do not forget to inform the rest of your family that you’re taking an official PJ day. Having a Pajama day doesn’t necessarily mean that you don’t do anything all day. You do what you feel is necessary for the day, in the comforts of your home. It’s your day to stay in your pajama without the pressures of meeting any deadlines. You’re the boss for the day, nobody can force you to do what needs to be done, you’ve taken the day off, to have some well needed me time in you PJ’s.
What Floats Your Boat
The greatest benefit of Pajama Day is that it gives you an incredible feeling of freedom. We all think about it when we are at work. If I ever get a day off, when I have no family commitments, no household chores, no meetings or other obligations, I would…
…Go for that walk I’ve been wanting to do, even in my PJ. I could sleep in or take naps all day and catch up on some well needed sleep, or wake up early and watch the beautiful sunrise as I sip my coffee or morning juice. I could get caught up on my personal projects I’ve been putting off or just go to that special place in my home where I like to relax. I could start that new project or I could fix me up a batch of popcorn and have a binge-watching marathon on Netflix. Whatever and however you choose to spend your time is up to you, the idea is just to unwind. It’s your carefree day after all, so enjoy everything you love, because doing things you actually love and crave helps to release tension.
You might want to include others into your PJ Day, not everyone can have the whole day off, but they may have a few hours to join you on your pajama day. Including your friends or family in your day off can add special moments that you can cherish for a lifetime. Try not to do too much planning as you want it to be a casual get together. Make it a potluck party where everyone brings something taking the pressures off of you.
Then you can just sit back and chat, or watch your favorite light hearted movie, laugh and enjoy each other’s company. Laughter really is the best medicine to reduce stress, physical tension and it calms your mind.
You could even turn it into a Pamper Pajama Party, get with your local spa or nail person and see if they or someone they know does home pamper parties. These parties could include massage, manicures, pedicures, updos or whatever sound fun to add a spa day feel to the party. Enjoy being in the comforts of your home, while being cared for by someone else. Notice yourself relaxing as the woes of your world drift away.
In the rapidly moving world, giving yourself a pajama day will surely prove to be greatly beneficial. Along with being very relaxing, it gives you that sense of comfort, peace and feeling of being grounded or centered you’ve been longing for. It is a day that when you can just take rest, physical, mental or both. Whatever you choose to do or not to do, allow yourself to do it.
